Happy Father's Day/Trip to Reid!

Hey everyone! Happy Father's Day! Today, we went to Reid State Park, which has a beach, but also lots of nice hiking trails. We just had a picnic on the beach. After I was done eating, I got up to look around and play in the sand a little.

First I went over to investigate this large sandy hill.

I shouldn't really have been walking there, though, because it looked like the beach was eroding away, and more erosion may disturb the grasses further. But just look at how ginormous it is!

Then, I searched through the piles of driftwood and detritus for cool stuff.

Look at this cool rope I found! I think the colors look like Halloween colors.

I decided to gather up some larger pieces and build a little shelter for myself.

I put the wood I had gathered down...

...and began building the frame.

My building process was cut short, though, when Skye told me we needed to get ready to go.

I climbed inside it just to test it out. With a little more work, it would have been perfect!

The path on the walk back from the beach to the car was lined with all these pretty roses.

I stopped to take a whiff.

Here you can see just how many pink flowers there were along the path.

I had a fun making a little shelter and just hanging out on the beach, even if we didn't stay the whole day. Tomorrow is my last day of school, and I can't wait! Summer vacation, here I come!

Happy June!

Hello there everyone! I hope you've all enjoyed your first day of June. I know I have! It's been wicked hot and humid these past few days. Tomorrow we might get thunder showers, so we decided to seize the moment, and take a trip to Popham Beach!

Once we got there, I took out my towel and tried to spread it out on the warm sand. It was really windy, and the towel wasn't quite cooperating, so it took a few tries to get it to lay just right.

After my towel was on the ground, I decided it would be a good idea to put up my umbrella so that I wouldn't be directly in the sun.

This, too, took a couple of tries, as I didn't want to chase the umbrella across the beach if it got swept up by the wind.

Finally, I got it to stick in the sand such that it couldn't catch the wind.

I sat down, enjoying my shady little spot.

After a few minutes of listening to the sound of the waves and just relaxing, I decided to get out one of my magazines and read.

That didn't last too long, though, as soon I began to feel drowsy. I lay down and rested my eyes, relishing the calm, quiet environment around me.
The beach was much cooler than it was back at our house, so I didn't really think it was warm enough to go swimming. We just hung out on the sand for a few hours, and before we went home, we got ice cream at a little restaurant up the road from the beach.

Now I REALLY can't wait for summer vacation to start! Exams start later next week, and the 17th is my last day of school. I can't wait until I have a little bit more freedom; I'm so ready to get to sleep in every morning! When do you get out of school? Are you pumped for summer?

Quiet Afternoons

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted recently; I've been super busy with school projects and soccer and piano practices. Once school is over, though, I'll definitely be posting a ton more. Today, I was outside playing with Argos when I heard footsteps out of nowhere.

Lilly and Deirdre were finally back from wherever they went after Saoirse's visit.

I, of course, was curious as to what was going on, so I followed them over to the steps, sat down, and tried to talk to Deirdre.

After a few "hellos" and "how are yous", I asked why she had stormed out so quickly. She stared into my eyes a few moments, before saying:
"I know Saoirse better than you do, Dani. Don't trust her."

I slowly got up off the step and watched as she and Lilly went inside.

Now I'm REALLY starting to wonder what happened between those two! I'll get to the bottom of this, sooner or later.

With that aside, here are some more pictures of Lilly and Deirdre outside in their elegant dresses.

New Friends!

Hello everybody! I've been super busy this last week, even though it's been spring break. One of the things that's been occupying my time has been the arrival of a new girl from Ethiopia.

Her name is Rahel, and she's 8 years old.

Look at all the little flowers on the forsythia bush! I'm so glad it's finally spring.

See her jewelry? Isn't it super pretty?

Isn't she just the cutest? I'm really excited to get to know her better. And as if the arrival of new girl wasn't enough, I still have more news...but I'm going to save that for a different day.

Bunny Rabbits!

Hello my faithful friends of the interwebs! I hope your Monday hasn't been too bad. Mine hasn't been too shabby!
This time of year, there are always lots of bunnies at the shelters. This is because lots of people think they are a good idea to give as Easter gifts, but soon realize they are too much work. If you didn't already know, Skye fosters animals, so there are always lots of critters in addition to our pets. After every Easter, we always have four or five rabbits around for a few weeks until people adopt them. Every year my brother and I have begged Skye to keep one, but every year it's been the same story; "We already have too many permanent pets" or "You guys will lose interest and I'll end up scooping more poop" or "The dogs wouldn't be able to leave it alone" and on and on and on. Well, this year, Takao and I could tell something was different. This year, Skye fell in love with this one little bunny.

Today was so warm, I decided to take our new little friend outside to play in the yard.

Isn't he super cute?

I watched him hop around in the green grass.

He peeked at me over a little tuft.

I walked over and gently picked him up.

He's so soft and cuddly! His floppy little ears are so long compared to the rest of his body. He reminds me so much of the Velveteen Rabbit.

However, my little lop-eared friend does not yet have a name. Currently, I'm trying to decide between Percy and Benedict Cumberbatch, but what do you think? Do you have any suggestions?
