Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate, and still just a happy day to those who don't! I had a super fun day. We aren't very religious, but we still celebrate Easter as just sort of a celebration of spring. We'll normally read a bible verse or two, but we don't really go to church. It's a tradition in our family to have a scavenger hunt on Easter.

I had just gotten up and put on my special Easter dress when I spotted two jelly beans.

Underneath the jelly beans was a scrap of paper with a message typed out.

I looked all around me. Finally, I spotted the corner of another piece of paper under my games.

Clue #2 had been found!

Hmm, things that you throw...I thought. I knew just the spot! The box with the outside stuff in it!

Clue #3!

I opened the drawer with the hair clippies. Sure enough, there was another clue!

I knew right where that was! In the container with the sponges and washcloths!

Here it is! Clue #5!

I went outside, thinking that was the bigger space.

I looked in the hedges a little bit, looked on the stairs...

I had passed right by it, though! Here was the next clue, under some little twigs.

I smiled and ran to our fire pit.

There it was! The clue was hiding under a brick.

Clue #7!

This next one gave me a little trouble; I knew it was a tree, I just didn't know which one.

I finally came to this one, and found the clue.

I rushed back inside and opened up the fridge. Fruits and vegetable have peels, so I had to check both drawers.

Clue #9 was in the fruit drawer.

The only place I knew I had a key was in my junk drawer. I opened it up...

...and pulled out clue #10.

I walked over to Molly's desk, pulled out her lunch box, and found...

...clue #11.

The slide was definitely the slippery slope, because there was clue #12!

This next clue was pretty hard. It took me about 10 minutes of wandering around to figure it out! It was the garden, of course! Clue #13 read, "Invitations to parties; And catalogs of clothes; This is a box; Painted black as crows."

I gave it my best guess. I was right! I found my basket in the mail box!

I sat down to look at my goodies. Jelly beans, Cadbury eggs, a bodhisattva necklace, and a purple rabbit string doll! Yay!

After my scavenger hunt, we got ready to meet some of Skye's family at Morse Mountain for a little hike to the beach.
Here I am enjoying the scenery of some marshy wetlands.

Along the way we crossed a little bridge. I looked down to the rushing stream beneath us.

After the wetlands we came back into the woods. Here I am exploring some piles of brush.

After a centipede slithered out, I rushed back to the trail,  ready to continue on the hike.

At this point, we were nearly to the beach!

The first thing I did was take off my shoes and rush over to the water.

I walked along the wet sand, enjoying the salty air and sun on my face. I was amazed at how warm it was!

I moseyed on over to the rocks and decided to do a little climbing.

I looked up to the tall grass and thought about what a good lookout it would make.

I hoisted myself up and looked over the beach. I spotted an oddly shaped object and decided to go check it out.

It was a big lobster trap!

I inspected it and thought about what the best way to get to the top would be.

I decided on climbing it like a fence and scurried to the top.

I leapt off the top onto the warm sand below.

For a while I just ran all over the beach and did some cartwheels. It felt so good to be back.

Once I had exhausted myself, I got to work looking for shells.

Immediately I found this pretty blue mussel.

As I walked back across the beach, I found this cool chair made out of driftwood.

I got nice and comfy and watched the beach some more.

Today was a great day. I love going hiking and to the beach! How do you normally celebrate Easter? Do you spend time with family?
This has been Dani, dabbling in scavenger hunts and hiking on Easter. Over and out!
