New Clothes!

Hello everybody! Last week we had vacation, and Skye taught me how to knit and sew! While I was practicing my new skills, Skye made Lilly and I some clothes.

Skye made this shirt for me from the All Dolled Up pattern "Raven". If you look closely, you can see that the fabric has dogs all over it! I love it!

I think my orange slice earrings match nicely.

Skye made this skirt and shirt, as well as the petticoat under the skirt, using authentic 1952 Simplicity patterns.

Here's a close-up!

I made this skirt! It was pretty simple; I only had to sew a casing for the elastic at the top, and then sew the back closed!

I like how it looks with this yellow shirt!

This skirt is very versatile. I think it looks good for any season! This is how I would wear it in the winter, but probably with some tights or a pair of leggings.

I had a nice, relaxing vacation doing crafts and learning new skills. What do you like to do on your time off? What are some of your hobbies? Can you knit or sew?
This has been Dani, dabbling in the art of sewing. Over and out!

  1. Salut, Dani!
I love the black skirt you made! I'd definitely wear something like that! Sadly, I can't knit or sew. My good American friend Lilly can knit, and she is awesome at it. She knit a fuzzy scarf for me.
During my time off, I like to shop and spend time with my friends. My hobbies are a weird combination of things. I love to sing, shop, spend time with friends, write, travel, read, learn new languages, learn about other cultures, and learn about psychology and sociology.
    Bisous,
    Sabine

    1. Hi Sabine!
Your friend Lilly is probably a million times better at knitting than I am! I can barely even knit a scarf! The scarves I've tried making always have weird gaps or aren't even straight. But hey, practice makes perfect, I suppose! It looks like we share a lot of hobbies, too! I really like spending time with friends and traveling as well. :)

  2. Hi Dani!

I love your new clothes! I can't sew anything more complicated than a pillow, so, sadly, I have to depend on All Dolled Up and AG for everything I wear. It is so cool that you don't have to!

    Hope to see you soon!

    1. Hi Charlotte!
That's part of the reason I like being able to sew! Also, If you sew your own clothes, nobody else has them, and you're the owner of a one of a kind outfit customized for you, by you!
By the way, you know that halter top I have with the blue flowers? Well, it's easier to sew than a pillow! When the weather gets warmer, I'm going to do a post on how to make your own! Stay tuned!

Hope to see you soon, too! I haven't seen you in forever!

  3. Awesome that you are learning and loving to sew .. we sew and crochet around here mostly, Nana's girls knit too, it is fun to get new clothes that are one of a kind rather than getting what everyone else has. lol

I love to travel and do photography first off myself, but I have sisters and cousins who do the sewing and crocheting and knitting around here.

    Hugs, Taryn

    1. Hi Taryn!
I would love to learn to crochet, too...I hear that it's much faster than knitting.
Photography and traveling are some of my passions, too! So many hobbies, so little time... :)
